We're back at it in full swing here in the LMC!
The word of the year is COLLABORATION! How can we help the teachers and students best utilize the available resources and maximize use of their library time?
I'm looking forward to a great year of learning!
Yes, it's true! Google Chrome will now be a permanent option on the LMC computers. A more modern browser, Chrome will allow an all-around better online experience for students. As a Google product, Chrome makes using Google Drive apps, as well as many web tools, much more effective than Internet Explorer.
The librarians are always available to teach - library orientation, an introduction to a project, plagiarism lessons, digital citizenship, evaluating resources, new web tools, etc.
If you'd like to schedule your classes for a session, please let me know!
It will soon be time to start making orders for materials in the library - both books and audiovisual.
If you have a title you'd like me to look for, please send me an email and let me know!
Last year was a transitionary time for the SHS LMC as we welcomed new librarians and worked on cleaning up the collection. This year Mrs. Wason will be returning, and Mrs. Fox will be joining us.
This year our focus is going to be not only continuing to improve the library and services offered, but to expand the resources we are offering to the staff and students.
The library will always be a place for books and for reading, but it is also a place for learning and technology. As we make concentrated efforts to become more interactive and connected, I hope to make the library a center of teaching and learning new tools and awesome ways to incorporate tech into lessons and projects.
I plan to use this page and blog to keep everyone up-to-date and informed on what we are doing and what will be coming in the future. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and comments!
